"of course I will"

Amy and I got engaged! We were in Arequipa in Peru, when I popped the question. I had bought 4 hats from the small island in lake Titicaca called Taquile. In Taquile, all the men wear red and white hats when they are single, and all-red hats when they marry.

On a rooftop restaurant in Arequipa, I asked Amy to take a few pictures. When I gave her the red-and-white hat, she said: "uh-oh". We took a picture, and then I dropped to my knee and told her that I loved her and I wanted to spend my life with her if she would have me. She replied: "Of course I will." There was a big kiss, and some polite clapping, and a few good pictures. Now all we need to do is plan a wedding.

richardkozlow.net

I just finished work on richardkozlow.net. This is the online catalogue raisonne for the artist Richard Kozlow. He is a close family friend, and the catalog contains over 300 of his paintings.

Richard recently suffered a stroke, and he is no longer able to paint with the same attention to detail that he used to. In particular, the works he painted right before the stroke are quite brilliant.

Please Take a look at this fantastic work.

Tribeca Film Festival Launches!

Hey all,

In case we have not spoken in a while... In case I have neglected to call... Or perhaps it was you that forgot...

I am well. I hope you are well also. The lovely and talented Amy Abramski is also well.

This is what I have been doing as of late:
Tribeca Film Festival @ Amazon.com

The film festival allows you to go watch short films on amazon and rate them. The top 5 rated films will have a showdowon on the amazon.com gateway in about a month. Please watch a film or two and enjoy yourself

We had 1040 films entered and we launched on tax day. Ironic no? I am overall impressed with the quality of the films. There are a number of excellent films, there are also some depressing art-school flics as well. My favorite so far is a film about ice fishing called Thin Ice.

take care my friends,

Welcome to the Handbasket!

Aaack! 4 more years of Tyrany.

One of the suprising elements of the vote, to me, was the zeal with which rural voters supported bush. Not only did they show up in huge numbers, they also were overwhelming in their support for GWB. in many of the rural counties ohio, bush support was pegged between 75-95%.

Another huge disappointment was the youth vote. NPR claimed that only 1 of 10 elligible voters age 18-20 voted. 10% of 17 (rough estimate from census data) million people is an abysmal 1.7 million votes. Young america did not speak out this election. If only 30% of these youths had voted, that would be an extra 3.4 million votes! This might have proved crucial in tight races, and might have made teh popular vote much closer.

But nooooo.... now we have a republican mandate. Kiss your civil liberties goodbye. Watch as we piss away billions of dollars. And more importantly, keep a close eye on the level of interaction between govement and corporate influence. The legislature is dead, we have an all powerfull executive uncheckedby congress. Hopefully, someone will cure cancer, so the supreme court doesn't get replaced by robots. In essence, I fear for the very liberty that my country was designed to protect.

What would Ben Franklin do? Probably go fly a kite.
